Somehow it happened again that I headed out to the Tatras. This time it was just a regular trip, with no particular focus on photography.
The Tatra chamois is a subspecies of the chamois of the genus Rupicapra. Tatra chamois live in the Tatra Mountains in Poland and Slovakia.
I'm not exactly an avid mountain hiker, but I ended up in the Tatras again. This trip took us to the Western Tatras, based in Slovakia. The main goal was Wołowiec, which we climbed from the Zábrať pass via Rakoń — a really charming route.
My camera came along, though the final decision to actually take it on the trail was made literally at the last moment. It turned out to be a good call. Along the way I spotted a few golden eagles circling above Rohacze, but the star of the trip was a chamois — just one — that I met on Wołowiec. At one point it came right up to the summit and, paying no attention to the tourists, let me photograph it from fairly close range.
On top of that, just as I was photographing it, another eagle started circling overhead. I didn't know which way to look.
So that just leaves: wallcreeper, bear, and lynx 😁
